Yoder, 91, of Scottdale passed away peacefully May 1, 2001 in Frick Hospital, Mt. Pleasant. Mabel was born in Stoystown on July 5, 1909, a daughter of the late Franklin and Sadie Martin Horner. In addition to her parents, Mabel was preceded in death by her husband, George Harold Yoder on April 13, 20001; her son, Edward H. Yoder on Nov. 30, 1996; a son-in-law, James W. Hough on April 9, 1997; a sister Alverta Brant, and two brothers, Harry and William Horner. Mabel is survived by her loving family: Her daughter, Carole Hough of Fort Lauderdale, Fla.; her son, Donald R. Yoder and his wife Jane of Scottdale RD 1; seven grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; a daughter-in-law, Anna Mary Cunningham Yoder of Scottdale RD 1; three sisters, Carrie Darr, Berlin, Mary Ellen Turben and Leah Nora Gumpher, both of Harrisburg, and several nieces and nephews. Following 72 years of marriage to her late husband George Harold Yoder, who passed away 18 days ago, they are now reunited. Mabel was a devoted homemaker, mother and grand-mother to her family. She was a longtime member of Christ United Methodist Church, Scottdale, and a member of the Church Sunday School Class. She also enjoyed crocheting and quilting. Family and friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 9 p.m. Friday at the Robert B. Ferguson Funeral Home, 105 Spring St., Scottdale, (724 887-5300 email: fergth@alusa.net) where funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday in the chapel, with her pastor Rev. Joseph A. Hajdu officiating. Graveside committal service and interment will follow in Scottdale Cemetery next to her late husband.
