She was born Sept. 10, 1924, a daughter of the late Floyd C. and Anna Maust Bender. On Nov. 27, 1946, she married the hero of her life, Paul Ervin Yoder, son of Ervin J. and Mabel Miller Yoder, Meyersdale. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband and three sisters, Mary (married to Leslie Byler, deceased, Kalona, Iowa); Lois (married to Ernest Mullett, Greenwood, Del.); Dorcas (Salisbury), and a brother, James (married to Martha Ropp, Kalona, Iowa). An infant daughter, Joan Ardith, twin to John, died five hours after she was born. Naomi is survived by seven children: John Aldus, married to Carol Martin, Meyersdale; Ruth Naomi, married to David Wenger, New York City; Joyce Elizabeth, married to Jay Sauder, Meyersdale; Wendell Paul, married to Darlene Unzicker, Meyersdale; Delbert Lynn, married to Tina Cook, Davidsville; Darrel Keith, married to Candace Bender, Elkhart, Ind.; Douglas Eugene, married to Roza Kostrzewska, Los Angeles. Naomi is also survived by 15 grandchildren, three step grandchildren and two great grandchildren, as well as a sister, Sarah, married to the late Daniel Miller, Lancaster, and two brothers, Philip, married to Lela Hershberger, Grantsville, and Paul, married to Mary Louise Hershberger, Grantsville. Naomi was first of all a follower and a faithful servant of Jesus Christ. A devoted wife, mother and grandmother, she will live on in the hearts of her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren who caught her love for God, truth, music, poetry, creativity, curiosity and selfless service to her God and to others. She was a member of the Oak Dale Mennonite Church, which she served faithfully all her years. A gracious hostess, a natural-born teacher and historian, a lover of flowers and beauty which she shared wherever she could, a loving friend and sister, her life was marked by countless deeds of quiet love. Naomi desired nothing more than to be a blessing. Friends may call 7 to 9 p.m. Friday and 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Saturday at the M. Ray Leckemby Funeral Home, 203 North St., Meyersdale.
