David L. Yommer, 22, son of Mr. and Mrs. Bruce Yommer, Jennings, Md., who was killed in action February 23, 1945, in Germany, were conducted at the Jennings Lutheran Church, Thursday afternoon, August 19. The Rev. Curt R. Runze, the pastor, officiated. There was music by the church choir. Military honors at the grave in the Grantsville Cemetery were conducted by Post 214, American Legion, under the command of Wayne Durst. Pfc. Yommer was born July 25, 1923, at Jennings, and was graduated from Grantsville High School, June, 1939. Prior to entering the Army, he was employed at the Timkin Roller Bearing Company, Canton, O. He entered the service in November, 1942, and was trained at Fort Benning, Ga., Camp Gordan, Ga., and in Nashville, Tenn. He went overseas in September 1944. He fought with an engineering battalion of General Patton's Third Army. Surviving besides his parents, are ten brothers, Osborn, Oney, Harold, Hurbert, Joseph, Homer, Richard and Willard, all of Jennings; Pvt. Harry W. Yommer, Scott Air Base, Belleville, Ill., and Pvt. Jack Randolph Yommer, Camp Laughlin, San Antonio, Tex.; and three sisters, Mary Helen Yommer, at home; Mrs. John Cross, Cumberland, and Norma Ruth, Jacksonville, Fla.
