Young, 86, North Center Ave., Somerset died Dec. 14 in Somerset Community Hospital. Born Oct. 17, 1890 in Johnstown, a son of Milton M. and Kathryn Kifer Young. Attended Somerset schools and California State Normal School. He was a member of First Christian Church, Somerset. He served for six years of the treasurer of the former Seay Memorial Home. He was a former sponsor of a scout troop in Indianhead, Pa.; he was a past master and life member of King Solomon Lodge 346 F&AM, Connellsville; was a life member of Syria Temple, Pittsburgh and of Uniontown Commandery, Knights Templar No. 49, Uniontown. Member of Somerset County Shrine Club and Trinity Fellowship of the Trinity Lutheran Church. He worked 50 years in the bituminous coal industry. Retired purchasing agent for Eastern Gas Fuels at Sonman Slope near Portage. Preceded in death by his first wife Elizabeth Cherry Young, one sister, Mrs. Denver Reitz and one brother Earl. Survived by his wife Bernice Meyers; one daughter, Kathryn Louise, wife of James Noschese, Pittsburgh; seven grandchildren, four great grandchildren and one sister, Miss Hazel Young, Johnstown. Friends will be received after 7 p.m. Thursday in Robert H. Halverson Funeral Home where funeral service will conducted Saturday, 10:30 am. Rev. Paul P. Weber and Rev. H. James Meyers officiating. Interment, Husband Cemetery. Masonic Memorial Rites conducted 7:30 p.m. Friday in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the first Christian Church.
