Lynn Young, 63, Harrison Avenue, Somerset, died Feb. 7, 1987, in Allegheny General Hospital, Pittsburgh. Born Oct. 4, 1923, in Mineral Springs, Clearfield County, son of the late B. I. and Myrtle (Buck) Young. Also preceded in death by brother, Clair I., and sister, Mrs. Benjamin (Goldie) Bodle. Survived by his wife, the former Lois Deter, and these children: R. Dwayn, married to the former Catherine Pastovich, Jennerstown; Roger D., married to the former Laurie Snyder, Garrett RD 1; and Cheri Lynne, wife of Carl R. Allison, Derry, Pa.; six grandchildren: Marina, I Daniel, Matthew, Lucinda, Heather and Ashley. Brother of: Mrs. Lester (Maude) Hoover, West Decatur, Pa.; Mrs. Wilfred (Dorcas) Heichel, Morrisville, Pa.; Jesse, Mahaffey; Lee, Pocatello, Idaho; Fay, Duncansville; and James, Grampian. Member of Calvary United Methodist Church, former Sunday school superintendent. Member of Somerset Lodge 358 F. and A.M., Jaffa Temple, Altoona, Altoona Consistory. He served three years in the European Theater of Operations and the Japanese Army of Occupation in World War II. A mechanical engineer, he was a graduate of Penn State University, employed four years with Union Firebrick Company, Grantsville, Md. and 29 years with Neilan Engineers, Somerset. Friends will be received from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. today (Monday) at the Robert H. Halverson Funeral Home. Funeral services Tuesday at 1 p.m. in Calvary United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Harry C. Sherry officiating. The body will lie in state at the church from 12:30 p.m. until the hour of service at 1 p.m. Graveside services will follow in Bradford Cemetery, Clearfield County, with the Rev. Thomas Young officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society. Daily American, February 9, 1987
