YOUNG, W. Wayne

W. Wayne Young, 89, formerly of Martinsburg, passed Away July 24, 2008, at the 
home of his son, near Williamsburg, after a lengthy illness. He was born April 
24, 1919, in Stonycreek Township, the son of the late Jordan and Mary 
(Berkebile) Young. He married Lois E. Lohr on May 17, 1941, in Winchester, Va. 
She preceded him in death, March 19, 1987. Also preceded in death by a brother, 
Robert Ray Young, May 31, 2002. He is survived by two sons, Jerry W. (wife, 
Sandra), of rural Williamsburg, with whom he resided; and David M., Martinsburg; 
a daughter, Linda L. Barr (husband, James), Martinsburg; five grand- sons, six 
great-grandchildren; a brother, C. Lee, Schellsburg; and a sister, C. Madeline 
Miller, Matthews, N.C. Mr. Young was a member of Saint John's United Church of 
Christ, Martinsburg, and a former member of Martinsburg United Methodist Church. 
He retired as a propane cylinder truck driver in 1973 from Miller & Bolger 
Pyrofax Gas, Martinsburg. Previously, he was a dairy equipment salesman for 
Surge, Martinsburg; was employed at Martinsburg Milling Co. and prior to that 
was a dairy farmer in Somerset County. Mr. Young was a 1937 graduate of Somerset 
High School. He enjoyed traveling and gardening. Friends will be received from 5 
to 8 p.m. Thursday at John C. Bolger Funeral Home Inc., Martinsburg, and from 10 
a.m. until 11:30 a.m., the time of service Friday at Saint John's United Church 
of Christ, Martinsburg. The Rev. Michael D. Barr and the Rev. Mary J. Hendricks 
officiating. Interment will be held at Fairview Cemetery, Martinsburg. The 
family suggests memorial contributions be made to Saint John's United Church of 
Christ or Martinsburg Volunteer Fire Co.
