Younkin, 78, of Casselman, died Aug. 9, 1999, at Somerset Hospital. Born Oct. 11, 1920 in Casselman. Son of Martin J. and Cordie (Nedrow) Younkin. Preceded in death by parents, brothers Keith, formerly of Lorain, Ohio, and Larry, formerly of Crescent City, Fla., and daughter Donna Joyce, formerly of Rockwood. Survived by his wife, Wilma (Digruttolo) Younkin, and sons Robert (married to Sandy) of Rockwood, Martin, of Berlin, and Marion (married to Debra) of Bakersville; also seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Veteran of World War II, where he served in the First Marine Division, First Raider Battalion, in the South Pacific Theatre. Member of Rockwood American Legion Post 279 and the Guadalcanal Survivors Club. He was retired from the U.S. Postal Service, where he was a letter carrier. Friends will be received from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Tuesday at Miller Funeral Home, Rockwood, where a service will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Pastor Gary Morris officiating.
