Younkin, 59, of Rockwood, died April 29, 1973, in Somerset Community Hospital. Born June 3, 1913, in Versailles, he was a son of Harvey and Anna (Moon) Younkin. Surviving are his wife, the former Nelda Shanks; a son, Donald R., of Garrett; two daughters, Mrs. Leanne Knopsnyder and Mrs. Linda Rager, both of Rockwood; six grandchildren; three brothers, Kenneth of Rockwood; Richard of Florida; and Edward of Meyersdale; and a sister, Mrs. Betty Sanner, of Rockwood. He was a member of St. Luke's Lutheran Church, Rockwood. A retired railroader, he was a member of the Brotherhood of Maintenance Way Employees. He belonged to Somerset County Historical Society and for the past few years was an at_______ at the maple festival in Meyersdale, where he demonstrated the art of cooperage. He also frequented the Kutztown Fair for the same purpose. Funeral service was held Wednesday afternoon in St. Luke's Lutheran Church, with Rev. Clarence Moore officiating. Interment in Rockwood IOOF Cemetery, under the direction of William J. Wood Funeral Home. Meyersdale Republican, May 3, 1973
