(Ryland) Younkin, 75, well known Grantsville resident, died Saturday morning in Hazel McGilvery Hospital, Meyersdale, where she was admitted Thursday morning. Mrs. Younkin had suffered a fractured hip the previous Saturday resulting from a fall in her home. Death was attributed to complications as a result of the injury. Mrs. Younkin, a daughter of the late Sylvester H. and Ella (Slicer) Ryland, native of Grantsville, was born in Selbysport, Md., April 15, 1867, and moved here with her parents fifty years ago. She was a lifelong active and faithful member of the Grantsville Methodist Church, and members of the W.S.C.S. will miss their cherished member, "Lilly" in their meetings. Her husband, Charles H. Younkin, preceded her in death some years ago. Surviving are two brothers, Dr. G. Bert Ryland, Pittsburgh, Pa.; and Dr. William H. Ryland, Meyersdale dentist. Funeral services were held here at Mrs. Younkin's home Sunday afternoon with Rev. S. D. Sigler officiating. Pallbearers were Ralph Glotfelty, Carl Miller, Dewey Yommer, Walter Younkin, Harry Younkin and Clayton Younkin. Interment was in the Grantsville cemetery. (Rev. V. R. Gillum, local Methodist pastor, regrets that due to short notice, and his heavy schedule of services in each of the seven churches in the Methodist charge on Sunday, culminating the Week of Dedication, he was unable to be present and participate in the funeral services of this loyal member.)
