  Alfred Patrick Zais, 93, of Mt. Airy Md., formerly of Beall St., Cumberland,
  Md., died Aug. 1, 2002 at the Glade Valley Nursing and Rehabiliation Center
  in Walkersville, Md. Born Aug. 15, 1908 in Westport, Md., he is the son of
  the late John F.S. and Susan May (Patrick) Zais. He also was preceded in
  death by his wife, Emma Elizabeth (Hanning) Zais; one son, Alfred Frederick
  Zais; six brothers: John Zais; Harry Zais; William Carl Zais; Howard Zais;
  Ralph Zais and Louis Zais; five sisters: Eleanora Kight; Bessie Shaw;
  Dorothea Jones; Cora Hardin and Ida Belle Braze. Survivors include his
  daughter, Anna Louise True and husband Roy, Mt. Airy; two sisters: Marjorie
  Carscaden, Cumberland and Martha Seibert, Virginia; eight grandchildren,
  twelve great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. Mr. Zais was
  retired from 37 years of service from the Celanese Corporation where he had
  been an Engineering Foreman. Friends will be received from noon until 1 p.m.
  Saturday, the time of service, at the Upchurch Funeral Home, P.A. 202 Greene
  St. Cumberland, with the Rev. Stephen F. Yelovich officiating. Private
  graveside services will follow at Sunset Memorial Park. The family
  respectfully requests expressions of sympathy take the form of memorial
  contributions to the charity of the donor's choice.
