Born Nov. 18, 1916, in Brady Bend, Armstrong County, the son of the late Samuel Dominic and Helen (Yoko) Zambanini. Also preceded in death by a son, Dale J. Zambanini and brothers, Sam, August, Yakel, Emil and John Zambanini. Survived by his wife, the former Susan M. Shaulis, to whom he was married 60 years on July 5, 2006; children, Charolett Pugh and husband Ron, Listie, Arlene (Susie) Kovach and husband Ed, Sipesville, Randy Zambanini and wife Celeste, Somerset, Mark Zambanini and wife Robin, Somerset and Michael Zambanini and wife Carolyn, Friedens; grandchildren, Scott, Stephanie and Nicholas Kovach, Trevor, Matthew, Christopher, Jhenna, Megan and Andrew Zambanini; great-granddaughter, Colby Kovach; and a sister, Mary Balazs, Walton, Ky. Member of Beulah United Methodist Church, UMWA and DAV. Retired after 32 years of underground coal mining. Army veteran of World War II. Friends received from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 and 7 to 9 p.m., Tuesday in the Robert H. Halverson Funeral Home, Somerset, and from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m., the time of service Wednesday, in the Beulah United Methodist Church. The Rev. Brenda Shaffer officiating. Interment in Beulah Cemetery. Contributions may be made to Beulah United Methodist Church, 433 Bicycle Road, Friedens, PA 15541.
