Daily American, Feb. 21, 2006 --- JAMES RICHARD ZIMMERMAN James Richard Zimmerman, 71, Hernando, Fla., originally from Somerset, Acosta, went to be with the Lord Feb. 19, 2006. Born Aug. 15, 1934, son of Charles F. and Thelma (Harding) Zimmerman. Preceded in death by parents; sister, Jean Widener and brother William Zimmerman. Survived by loving wife, Iris, of 39 years; sisters, Avanell Willard and husband, Robert, Seattle, Wash.; Virginia Givens and husband, Dallas, Freeport, Ill.; brothers, Floyd Zimmerman, Warrenton, Ore. Charles Zimmerman and wife, Clarice, Seattle, Wash.; sister-in- law, Carol Zimmerman, Kent, Wash.; son, Robert Zimmerman and fianc‚e, Cyndy Shepherd, Floral, Fla.; daughters, Sherrie Jensen and husband, Mark, Anchorage, Alaska; Melody Miranda and husband, Armando, Centralia, Wash.; Wendy Vandel and husband, Gregg, Federal Way, Wash.; granddaughters, Brenda, Brittany, Haley, Jensen, Anchorage, Alaska; Amanda, Cassandra Vandel, Federal Way, Wash.; Tierra and Kira Barnes, Centralia, Wash.; grandsons, Aaron Cardin and wife, Tasha, Airforce, Japan; Chad Howell, Centralia, Wash.; Geovanni, Ivan, Eddie, Miranda, Centralia, Wash.; nieces, Deborah Hoffman, Paula Hoffman, Cheryl Spory, all of Somerset; numerous nieces and nephews. Jim spent six years in the Air Force, traffic controller at an airport in Alaska and owned his business, Zims Maintenance before retiring. He liked square dancing, flying kites, flea markets, garage sales. He was a great carpenter, loving husband, great father, grandfather and brother. He will be greatly missed by all.
