  ZIMMERMAN

  John D. Zimmerman Jr., 48, North Palm Beach, Fla., formerly of Somerset, 
  died of a heart attack in a hospital in North Palm Beach, Fla. Aug. 21, 
  1985. He was the son of the late John D. Zimmerman of Somerset, a long-time 
  Veteran's Service Officer of VFW Post 554, and Nell (Walters) Zimmerman.  He 
  was retired as a gunnery sergeant after 20 years in the U.S. Marine Corps 
  and served in Cuba. He was employed by Curtiss-Wright Corp. in North Palm 
  Beach.  He is survived by his widow, Catherine (Laskoski) Zimmerman, also a 
  Somerset County native, one son and three daughters.  A military funeral 
  service will be held Monday at Parris Island Marine Corps Base in South 
  Carolina and burial will be in the National Cemetery, New Bern, N. C.
