Born Nov. 17, 1929, in Quemahoning Twp., son of Frederick Berkey and Lucy (Geisel) Zimmerman. Preceded in death by parents; brothers, Vernon and David, who were both killed in World War II, Charles, Harry and George. Survived by brothers, John, married to the former Fredi Moore of Hooversville, and Hiram of Stoystown; sisters, Jean of Washington, D.C., and Louise, married to Don Schrock of Gettysburg; numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews. He was a Marine Corp veteran of the Korean Conflict. Retired from Operating Engineers Local 37. Life member of Hooversville V.F.W. Post 7565, and Robert P. Hite Post 257 American Legion, Stoystown. Member of the Marine Corp League, Somerset Detachment. Avid fan of North Star girls soccer and basketball. No viewing or visitation. A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Friday at Deaner Funeral Home, Stoystown, Rev. Gerald L. Myers officiating.
