Born Jan. 2, 1924 in Jenner Township, a son of William Clyde and Florence Pearl (Winter) Zimmerman. Preceded in death by parents, and sisters, Maude Powell and Florence Snyder. Survived by wife, the former Pauline Marie Ogline, to whom he would have been married 52 years on July 28, 2003; children, Dennis M. Zimmerman, married to the former Jane Brubaker of Boswell, Gary P. Zimmerman of Ohio, and Mrs. Craig A. (Tamela S.) Zehner of Somerset; grandchildren, M. Scott Zimmerman and wife Elisha of Boswell, Brenda L. Zimmerman and fiance Daren Swallow of Boswell, Mrs. Mike (Rebecca) Kirkwood of Ohio, Stephanie and Kara Zimmerman, both of Ohio, Jared M. and Jacob Zehner of Somerset. Brother of Mrs. Madeline Hershberger of Somerset, Mrs. Robert (Peggy) Blough of Stoystown and Mrs. Dean (Alice) Blough of Boswell. A 1943 graduate of Boswell High School, U.S. Navy veteran of World War II in both the Atlantic and Pacific Theaters on USS Underhill Destroyer Escort. Worked for 27 years as Lincoln Township dairy and potato farmer where he retired. Member of Christ Casebeer Evangelical Lutheran Church where he was in the church choir and was a past church councilman. Was past president of Sipesville Water Company and board member on the Farmers Home Administration. Friends received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Monday at the Hauger-Zeigler Funeral Home, Somerset. Service will be conducted 11 a.m. Tuesday at Christ Casebeer Evangelical Lutheran Church, Somerset, the Rev. Dennis L. Doebler and Rev. Mark Bendes officiating. Interment, Casebeer Cemetery. Contributions may be made to Christ Casebeer Lutheran Church, 10377 Somerset Pike, Somerset, Pa. 15501 or USS Underhill Memorial Fund c/o Vi Dace, 271 George Street, Sullivan, Mo. 63080.
