  ZINKAND
  
  Janet Lynn Zinkand, 18, of Confluence, died Aug. 14, 2001, in Uniontown
  Hospital.  She was born Dec. 28, 1982, in Pittsburgh, a daughter of Darlene
  (Scandrol) Zinkand of Confluence and the late William Zinkand.  In addition
  to her mother, she is survived by her paternal grandmother, Laura Watts of
  Murfreesboro, Tenn.; a brother, James of Confluence, and a special friend,
  Allen Gyorko of Confluence.  She was a 2001 graduate of Turkeyfoot Valley
  Area High School, where she served on the yearbook and newspaper staffs. 
  Was a member and treasurer of the National Honor Society.  Participated in
  varsity basketball and was a varsity cheerleader.  She was also honored as
  the Confluence Lions Club Student of the Month as well as belonging to the
  Bible Club.  She participated in Somerset County Chorus.  She also was the
  salutatorian of the class of 2001.  She was a member of the New Centerville
  Spinnetts and performed at the Citrus Bowl halftime show in Orlando, Fla. 
  She would have been a freshman at Frostburg State University this fall. 
  Friends will be received from 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday and 10 a.m. to 9 p.m.
  Friday, at the Humbert Funeral Home in Confluence, where services will be
  held Saturday at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Duane Riddle officiating.  Interment
  will follow in Turkeyfoot Baptist Cemetery.  Family suggests memorial
  contributions to the New Centerville Spinnetts Memorial Fund, 122 Windswept
  Road, Somerset, Pa. 15505.
