Zubek, 74, Central City, died Nov. 17, 2000 at home. Born Oct. 24, 1926 in Central City, son of the late Stanislaw and Anna (Cabala) Zubek. Preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Stanley, Walter, Joseph and John, and an infant sister. Survived by his wife of 50 years the former Betty L. Harkcom; children, Edward (Pat) married to the former Mary Ann Carmany, Central City; Bonnie, wife of Tom Jarvis, Central City; Bob, married to the former Gloria Morgan, Cairnbrook; Bill, married to the former Stephanie Homa, Cairnbrook; John, married to the former Wendy Gautch, Georgetown, Texas; Barbara, wife of Michael Knecht, Erie; Susan, wife of David Devan, Fayetteville, N.C.; grandchildren, Becky and Danielle Zubek, Dr. Trisia, Kevin, and Eric Jarvis, Derrick Zubek, Shannon, Lauren, Billy and, Kristen Zubek, Shane, Dustin, Kyle and Cole Zubek, Mary Beth and Ryan Knecht, Michael and Katie Devan. Also survived by sister-in-law, Dorothy Zubek, Central City. Co-owner of the former Yantus-Zukek Coal Co. and founder of Zubek Coal. A lifelong member of the former Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church and PNA Lodge 1978. Served on the committee of the annual Shade High School Class of '44 reunion and a sponsor of various sports teams. Ed enjoyed traveling, hunting and fishing, but especially loved spending time with his children and grandchildren. Friends were received Sunday at the Mulcahy Funeral Home where a vigil for the deceased was held. Funeral mass will be celebrated 11 a.m. Monday at Our Lady Queen of Angels Church with Father Charles Bodziak celebrant. Committal, Sacred Heart Cemetery.
