[sic*] He was born in Somerset on October 29, 1858, a son of Isaac and Reina (Martz) Zufall. He was the oldest of a family of four chidlren, all of whom preceded him in death, his brother, Francis Zufall, died in 1893, Monroe Zufall, in 1924, and Catherine Kindsland, his sister, in 1901. His father, Isaac Zufall, who served in the Civil war, was killed in the Battle of the Wilderness, on May 10, 1864. Some years later his mother married Jonathan J. Daniels, of Somerset. To them were born two sons, Harry E., of Churdan, Iowa, and Arthur J., of Pittsburgh. In 1871 Mr. and Mrs. Daniels moved to Harnedsville, where they lived until Mr. Daniels died in 1910. Mrs. Daniels then made her home with her son William Zufall, until she died in 1914. Mr. Zufall followed the trade of paper hanger, plasterer, painter and decorator. The interiors of the Evangelical church in Harnedsville and the Lutheran and the Methodist churchs in Ursina are examples of his careful workmanship and decorative ability. In 1902 he was elected Justice of the Peace of Lower Turkeyfoot Township and continued until he died, his last term not expiring until 1938. He was engaged in the mercantile business for a few years, afer which he was appointed postmaster in 1929, remaining so until he died. He was very active and interested in any affairs pretaining to the good of the communtiy in which he lived. In 1901 he married Daisy D. Shumaker of Hyndman, Pa., who survives. To them were born three daughters, Mrs. Ina M. Adams at home, Mrs. Tu**ma Klnk [sic], of Rockwood, and Dolly Blanche, who died in infancy. He is also survived by six grandchildren, William, James and Jane Adams, and Thelma, June and Floyd Klink. About four years ago he was stricken with stomach trouble which resulted in his death. He was a member of the Evangelical Church, being secretary of the Sunday school and a church official almost continuously until unable to attend. He was also a member of the Knights of Pythias. The funeral services were held at his late home on Friday afternoon, at 1:30. Rev. W. M. Minerd of Rockwood, minister of the Evangelical church, preached the funeral sermon. A choir composed of Mrs. E. A. Cross, Mrs. Clyde Shope, Mrs. W. S. Leslie, Mr. and Mrs. W. S. Bird and Mr. And Mrs. J. L. Gower, sang In the Garden, Face to Face and Jesus Savior, Pilot Me. The pallbearers were members of the K. of P. lodge. His body was interred in the Baptist Cemetery in Confluence. Chas. B. Humbert, funeral director, was in charge. Among those who attended the funeral were Harry E. Daniels and Mr. and Mrs. Robert Daniels, of Churdan, Iowa; Mr. and Mrs. A. J. Daniels and Mr. and Mrs. S. E. Brant, of Pittsburgh; Mrs. Ralph Burkett and Miss Mary Durbin, of Connellsville; Mrs. J. C. Cook and daughter, Mrs. Richard Grabenstein, and Mr. and Mrs. [?] W. Shumaker and daughter, Wanetta, of Cumberland, Md.; Attorneys [?] C. Lowry and Thomas J. Itell, of Somerset, and Mrs. Retta Meyers, of Confluence. Mr. Zufall was a staunch Republican during his life and sterling citizen of Somerset County.
