Born April 9, 1912, in Rockwood, Pa., Zufall moved to California in 1930, working in the lettuce fields of the Salinas Valley. He returned to Rockwood briefly to marry his high school sweetheart, Evelyn. The couple moved to Martinez, Calif., in 1937, and for the next 27 years they owned and operated Zufall's Furniture Store and Moving and Storage Co. He was a city councilman in Martinez and active in the Chamber of Commerce, League of Cities, Lions Club and the Boy Scouts of America. In 1964, Zufall moved to Anderson, Calif., where he and his oldest son, Bill, owned and operated Zufall's Mobile Park. He also worked for Pacific Motor Trucking in Redding until 1974. He was an active member of the Moose and Elks Lodges in Redding and a supporter of the Sons of Italy and the Boy Scouts. Survivors include his wife of 59 years, Evelyn; one son, Bob Zufall of Scott's Valley; two grandsons, Dr. Ronald Zufall of Redding and John Zufall of Monrovia, Calif.; and four great grandchildren. A cremation and service will be private. The family requests that donations be made in his name to your local Lions Club, the Boy Scouts of America, or the Lakewood Christian Home Care Center, Willis Street, Redding, Calif.
