LAST WILL & TESTAMENT ADAM FADELY - 1828 In the name of God amen. I Adam Fadely of Elklick township, Somerset county and state of Pennsylvania being sick and weak in body but of sound mind and understanding and considering the certainty of death and the uncertainty of the time thereof and to the end I may be the better prepared to leave this world whenever it shall please God to call me hence do therefore make and declare this my Last Will and Testament in manner following that is to say, first and principally I commit my soul into the hands of Almighty God my Creator and my body I request to be committed to the earth in a decent Christian like manner at the discretion of my executors, herein after named and I give all my plantation lands and tenements with all my stock of horses, horned cattle and other live stock belonging to me with all my farming utensils and all my household and kitchen furniture unto my wife Mary during her natural life or as long as she remains my widow (except as herein after mentioned) provided she pays one hundred dollars which along with my outstanding dues and demands, I direct to be collected and distributed among my children in the manner following that is to say to my two sons: Jacob and Adam two hundred dollars each more than any of my other children to be put into the hands of a person herein after to be named as their guardian because they are not blessed with a sound understanding and the residue of my outstanding demands I direct to be equally divided among all my children and those of them that have already received any cash or other thing of me it is to be deducted and further I direct and will that my son John make and mow the hay upon the upper meadow on the Haloes and have the use of wagon for his own halling provided he helps his mother to get or halling her harvest to and unto my daughter Mary I will one more colt to be kept on the farm until it is three years old exclusive of her equal share alike with the others and further I will that after the death of my wife Mary I will that my plantation be equally divided among my children in the most easy and best manner they can agree upon and I do also hereby will and direct that my wife Mary and my son John have the sole direction and guardianship and management of the persons and property of my two sons Jacob and Adam before mentioned and further I do by these presents nominate constitute and appoint my wife Mary and my son John Fadely to be my executors of this my will and I do now declare this to be my last will and testament hereby making void and of no effect all former wills.
