Will Book Vol. 5 Page 43 WILL OF M. PETERMAN In the name of God, Amen. I, Michael Peterman, of the Township of Shade, County of Somerset, State of Pennsylvania, farmer, being weak in body, and of sound mind, memory and understand- ing, but considering the uncertainty of this transitory life, do make and publish this my last will and testament in manner and form following to wit: First, It is my will, and I do order, that all my first debts and funeral expenses be duly paid and satisfied as soon as conveniently can be after my demise. Second, I give and bequeath unto my dear wife, Mary, two beds, two cows, and together with such of my household furniture, and kitchen utensils, as she may choose to keep for her own use, also sufficient house room for her to keep her beds and utensils so long as she shall live, my son, Christian, is to keep her cows, get her wood and eating and drinking and warm appeal sufficient for to make her conformable. Third, I give and bequeath unto my son, Christian, his heirs and assigned, my plantation forever, he or they paying there out unto my other children, hereafter named, the several sums of money respectably bequeathed. I also bequeath unto my son, Christian, four ploughs one harrow, one wagon. and all the rest of the farming utensils needed upon the farm, also one set of smith tools. Fourth, I give and bequeath unto my son, George, twenty eight dollars and fifty seven cents on the first day of April next after my death and fourteen dollars and twenty nine cents a year, for ten years thereafter. Fifth, I give and bequeath unto my son, Michael, twenty eight dollars and fifty seven cents on the first day of April next after my death and fourteen dollars and twenty nine cents a year for ten years thereafter. Sixth, I give and bequeath unto my daughter, Bevey BEBLEY, twenty eight dollars and fifty seven cents on the first day of April next after my death and fourteen dollars and twenty nine cents a year for ten years thereafter. Seventh, I give and bequeath unto me son Jacob, twenty eight dollars and fifty seven cents on the first day of April next after my death and fourteen dollars and twenty nine cents a year for ten years thereafter. Eighth, I give and bequeath unto my daughter Elizabeth Boyer, twenty eight dollars and twenty nine cents on the first day of April next after my death and fourteen dollars and twenty nine cents a year for ten years thereafter. Ninth, I give and bequeath unto my daughter Polly Holtzapple, twenty eight dollars and fifty seven cents on the first day of April next after my death and fourteen dollars and twenty nine cents thereafter. Tenth, and as touching all the residue and remainder of my estate, real and personal of what kind or nature, Whatsoever the same maybe in the County of Somerset as foresaid or elsewhere, I give and desire the same unto my seven children, George, Michael, Bevery, Jacob, Elizabeth, Polly and Christian and to their heirs and assigns forever to be equally divided among them. Lastly, I nominate, constitute and appoint my son Christian to be the executor of this my will hereby revoking all other wills, legacies and bequests by me heretofore made and declaring this and no other to be my last will and testament. In witness whereof I hereunto set my hand and seal, the tenth day of February one thousand eight hundred and forty. Foy Somerset County, SS This 31st day of July August A.D. 1853, personally appeared before me ,C. M Hicks, Register, for the probate of Wills and granting letters of Administration in and for said County, John Foy one of the witnesses to the within and foregoing will, who being duly qualified according to law, deposes and says that he was present and saw and heard Michael Peterman the within named testator sign, seal ,publish, pronounce and declare the within and foregoing instrument of writing as and for his last will and testament, and that he was at the time of so doing of perfect sound mind, memory and understanding to the best of his knowledge and belief Sworn, and subscribed this 31st day John Foy of August A.D. 1853 before me C M Hicks, Reg. Somerset County SS. This 7th day of October AD. 1852, personally appeared before me, C M Hicks Register, for the probate of Wills and Granting Letters of Administration in and for the said county Geo. Foy Esq one of the subscribing witnesses the within and foregoing will who being duly qualified according to law deposes and says that he was present and saw and heard Michael Peterman the within named testator sign and seal ,publish, pronounce and declare the within and foregoing instrument of writing as and for his last will and testament and that he was at the time of doing of sound mind and memory and understanding to the best of his knowledge and belief Sworn and subscribe this 7th day of Geo.
