[or its predecessor] G.A. Darrow of Johnson City Dies at Home Widely Known Odd Fellow Passes Away at 75; Funeral Saturday Johnson City, Oct. 13 - George A. Darrow, 75 years old, a resident of this village for many years and active for more than 50 years in the Odd Fellows, both in this village and in Montrose, his former home, died at his home 72 Hudson Street, yesterday afternoon. He was a past noble grand of the Odd Fellows and a past grand patriarch of the encampment, I.O.O.F. The Odd Fellows lodges of Johnson City will have charge of the burial service, while members of the lodges will act as bearers and escort. Mr. Darrow was employed by the Endicott Johnson Corporation for about 20 years, retiring from active employment several years ago. He continued to be active in the social and fraternal life of the village until a few weeks ago, however. When he celebrated his fiftieth anniversary as an Odd Fellow, July 14, 1925, Golden Sceptre Lodge, I.O.O.F. presented him with a gold jewel. Mr. And Mrs. Darrow celebrated their golden anniversary, May 17, 1927, and at that time the lodge presented him with a golden-headed cage. The survivors are his wife, a daughter, Mrs. Charles Morrison of Johnson City, a son, Adelbert O. Darrow of Binghamton and three grandchildren, Carlton H. Darrow, Duane A. Darrow, and Robert E. Darrow, all of Binghamton. Mr. Darrow was a member of the First Baptist Church of Johnson City, Golden Sceptre Lodge, 693, I.O.O.F., and Johnson City Encampment, 61, I.O.O.F. and the Johnson City Exempt Firemen's association. The funeral will be held at the home, Saturday afternoon at 2 o'clock. The Reverend Richard J. Murphy, pastor of the First Baptist church, officiating. Burial will be to Riverhurst cemetery, Endicott. All members of Golden Sceptre Lodge, 693 and Johnson City Encampment, 61 are requested by their respective officers, to meet at Odd Fellow hall at 1:30 o'clock Saturday afternoon, to attend the funeral. Members owning automobiles are requested to drive them.
