And new to wit: December 14th A. D. 1865. An Instrument of writing purporting to be the last Will and Testament of George Gelatt, late of the Township of Gibson in said County, was presented for probate, and at the same time personally appeared William H. Pope, one of the subscribing witnesses to said Instrument or paper writing; who being duly sworn accounting to Law, doth report and say that he was present and saw and heard the said George Gelatt sign, seal, publish, pronounce , and declare the said Instrument or paper writing as and for his Testament and last Will + that at the time of his so doing he was of sound and disposing mind and memory to the best of his knowledge + belief. And further that Esther W. Tiffany the other witness is now deceased. Susquehanna County, J. Before me J. Hull Cain Register for in + for said County personally appeared George L. Varey (?) who being duly sworn according to Law doth depose + say that he is well acquainted with the handwriting of Esther W. Tiffany one of the subscribing witnesses to the within Instrument of writing purporting to be the last Will and Testament of George Gelatt deceased, And that he verily believes that said signature is in the genuine handwriting of said Witness. Where upon the said Instrument or paper writing was admitted to Probate as proven to be the last Will and Testament of George Gelatt, deceased, and is in the words following to wit: I George Gelatt of the Township of Gibson, in the County of Susquehanna and State of Pennsylvania Yeoman being in heath of body, and of sound mind and disposing memory praised be God for the same. And being desirers to settle my worldly affairs, while I have strength and capacity so to do, Do make and publish this my last Will and Testament, hereby revoking and making void all former Wills by me at any time heretofore made. And firstly and principally I commit my soul into the hands of my Creator who gave it, and my body to the Earth to be interred decently according to the discretion of my Executor herein after named, and as to my worldly Estate wherewith shall pleased God to interest me with, I dispose of as follows, to wit: I order that all my just debts be paid funeral expenses and charges and charges of proving this my last Will and Testament be in the first peacefully paid and satisfied, and after payment thereof, and every part thereof, I give and bequeath unto my beloved wife Susan the full and free use of the two west Rooms and Bedroom in the house I now live in with the privilege of Getting to and from each other. Also to and from each other. Also after wood and water. Also all of the household furniture remaining in the house to be disposed of according to her pleasure; Also the use of one good cow and keeping, the cow to be kept and milked for the use of my wife; Also three hundred Dollars in money, Also a sufficiency of five wood made ready for use at the door for one fire. Also to maintained, supported, and supplied with all that is necessary for her living in the same manner she has been in the habit of living heretofore, or in Lien of the above privileges of the house, cow and firewood, one hundred Dollars to be paid quarterly if needed or annually at the ? of the year, Also I give and bequeath unto my daughters Clarissa Griswold fifty Dollars, Samantha Bill fifty Dollars, Rebecca Benson fifty Dollars, Also I give and bequeath to my son John Gelatt Two hundred Dollars; George W. Gelatt two hundred dollars, Richard W. Gelatt two hundred Dollars, Gurdon W. Gelatt two hundred Dollars. Also I give and bequeath to my son Silas C. Gelatt all my real Estate together with all the privileges and appurtenances therewith belonging with all my present property stock forming ? and all other property not otherwise disposed of and belonging to me at the time of my decease; after paying all the above Legacies and Maintenance of my wife Susan, I also give Silas C. Gelatt six years from my decease to pay the above Legacies. And I do hereby make and ordain Wm H. Pope and R. W. Gelatt Executors of this my last Will and Testament, In Witness whereof I George Gelatt the Testator have to this my last Will and Testament set my hand and seal this the tenth day of November in the year of our Lord one thousand Eight hundred and Sixty five.
