Kirkhuff, dec And now to wit: June 23, 1869 an instrument of writing purporting to be the last will and testament of John A. Kirkhuff late of the township of Auburn, in said county deceased, was presented for Probate, and at the same time came W. J. Mulford and J.H. McCain the subscribing witnesses to the said instrument of writing who being duly sworn according to law did say that they were present and saw and heard the said John A. Kirkuff sign, seal, publish, and declare the said instrument of writing as and for his last will and testament and that at the time of his so doing he was of sound and disposing mind and memory to the best of their knowledge and belief. Whereupon the said instrument of writing was admitted for Probate and duly proven to be the last will and testament of the said John A. Kirkhuff and is in the words following: I, John A. Kirkhuff, of the town of Auburn in the County of Susquehanna, and State of Pennsylvania, being of the age of fifty years and of sound mind and memory , for which I thank God, do make and publish and declare this to be my last Will and Testament in manner following , that is to say…First, after my debts and necessary expenses shall have been paid, I give and bequeath to my beloved wife, Sarah Kirkhuff, two cows, six sheep and all my household furniture and one years provision including together with the income rents and profits of one third of all my real estate to hold, to have, and to enjoy during her natural life by her to be received and accepted in lieu of dower. SECOND and in consequence of a settlement having already been by me made on my two daughters Latisha Frantz and Samantha Linaberry of one thousand dollars each with the use thereof to themselves and their heirs which was to be by them received in lieu of any further share or portion of my which might thereafter be by me or of any legacy from me under this will I do hereby declare that what I have heretofore given them shall be received by them in lieu of any bequeath or legacy under this will. THIRD I give and bequeath and devise all the residue and remainder of my real and personal property , goods, and chattel of whatsoever name nature or kind whensoever situate or found to my sons Jacob Kirkhuff, John Westley Kirkhuff, and George Washington Kirkhuff and my daughter Alvira Elizabeth Kirkhuff and Mary Matilday Kirkhuff to be divided equally between them share and share alike and I do hereby appoint Jacob Kirkhuff and John Westly Kirkhuff my two oldest sons to be the sole executors of my last will and testament hereby evoking all former will by me made . In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal this fifteenth day of July in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and sixty four.
