And now to wit on April 28th 1856 Joseph DuBois presented an instrument in writing purporting to be the last Will and Testament of NANCY NEWMAN late of Great Bend in said county, deceased, for Probate and produced Charles Dimon, Esq. and Caroline E. Dimon, the subscribing witnesses to said Instrument, who after being duly sworn according to law do say that they wee present at the execution of and did see and hear the Testator herein named, sign, seal, publish pronounce and declare the said Instrument as and for his Testament, and last Will, and that at the time of his so doing he was of sound and disposing mind, memory and understanding, to the best of their observation and belief. Whereupon the said Instrument on paper writing is admitted to Probate as proven to be the last Will & Testament of NANCY NEWMAN late of Great Bend aforesaid, deceased, and is in words following to wit: Be it remembered that I, NANCY NEWMAN of Great Bend, Susquehanna County and State of Pennsylvania, being of feeble health, but, of sound disposing mind, memory and understanding considering the uncertainty of life do think proper to make and publish my last Will and Testament in manner following viz: First Item. I do order and direct that all my just debts be promptly paid including my funeral charges. I give and bequeath to DAVID NEWMAN, son of my brother GALEN NEWMAN, a minor of two years of age last December, the sum of two hundred dollars, to be placed at interest with my good security by my executors, to be paid by them to the said David Newman on his becoming twenty one years of age, and in case of his death, to be paid over to David's next younger brother JAMES WILLIAM NEWMAN on his arriving at the age of twenty one years. Lastly, I give and devise to my beloved sister ADELIA HASBROUCK all the residue of my estate both real and personal. The real estate being a strip of land lying between the lands of my brother Galen Newman and the land of my sister Adelia Hasbrouck containing about thirty six acres. The same being in the township of Great Bend. The personal property consisting of a lease in the stone quarry, upon the lands of my said sister Adelia Hasbrouck. - Five shares of stock in the Great Bend Bridge, money at interest, household furniture, stock and in fact everything belonging to me at the time of my decease (except the two hundred dollars to David Newman as aforesaid. It is my request that my sister Adelia Hasbrouck shall not sell or dispose of a certain gray horse, but to keep it and use it tenderly during its natural life, in consideration of its being an extraordinary good servant to the family for a long period of time. And I do constitute and appoint Joseph DuBois and my said sister Adelia Hasbrouck both of Great Bend township aforesaid, to be my Executors. Confidence that they will discharge the duties required of them in the foregoing will. Letters testamentary were in due form of law granted unto Joseph DuBois, Executor named in the last Will & Testament of Nancy Newman late of Great Bend in said county dec'd upon all and singular the goods and chattels, rights and credits which were of said deceased, he having first been duly sworn according to law. Inventory filed May 23, 1856, amount to $2505.82.
