October 11, 1865 Fatal Accident. We are pained to state Mr. Walter Dibble, of Delmar, late of Comp. A. 149th P. V., was so badly injured by the cars in the Phil'a. & Erie R. R. one day last week, that he survived the accident but three hours. The facts so related to us are these: Mr. Dibble, in company with another man, was on his way to the lumber region of the Sinnemahoning. They had reached the station where they were to leave the cars, and while Mr. D. was in the act of getting off, a down train ran into the train standing at the depot. Mr. Dibble was caught in the wreck and crushed. The body was brought home and the funeral took place on Saturday. Thus the culpable carelessness of railroad officials robs a family of one of its most beloved numbers, and the world of a useful young man.
