Royce, of Delmar, Pa., aged 20 years. He enlisted in Co. I, 45th P. V., in September 1861, and re-enlisted in Jan. 1864. He was taken prisoner by the Rebels, in the September following at Petersburg and confined in Salisbury prison nearly six months… After weary months, Malcolm Royce was paroled and visited his friends in Delmar. In May last he rejoined his regiment at Alexandria; but in a little over a month nature sunk under the disease which prison life had engendered, and after a few days of suffering, death closed the, scene and another victim was added to the long and fearful list of martyred soldiers. His remains were brought back to Delmar and laid to rest near the friends of his youth, there to slumber in the hope of a final and glorious resurrection. He was a brave soldier, a fine young man, and tenderly cherished by the loving friends who so deeply and sincerely mourns his early death. Wellsboro, July 17, 1865.
