Mrs. Harriet Schmelzle Riley, mother of Mrs. Joseph G. Keys, passed away at the Keys' home, 1230 West Fifteenth street, Saturday morning at 2:30, of cancer of the stomach. Mrs. Riley was born in Union township, October 20, 1851. A good portion of her life was spent in Ogdensburg, Pa. On November 4, 1872, she was united in holy marriage at Blossburg, Pa., with Mr. Riley who passed away March 22, 1918. Surviving to mourn her death are the following children: J. D. and T. F. Riley, New York city; and Mrs. Joseph Keys, of Tyrone. She is also survived by the following brothers and sisters: George, Daniel, Horace, Cyrus, Mrs. Christina Dowd, Mrs. Freeman Neal and Mrs. William Watkins, all of Union township, Tioga county. Funeral services will be held this morning at 10 o'clock at the home of Mrs. Keys on West Fifteenth street, conducted by Rev. A. S. Fasick. The body will be taken to Roaring Branch, Pa., where interment will be made. Altoona Tribune, Monday, January 20, 1919, page 4
