Mrs. Weaver, the deceased, was on board the steamer Grey Eagle of the Minnesota Packet Company, on her way from Dubuque to Burlington, Iowa, to visit a sister. The mother of Mrs. Weaver, an aged woman, was also on board, but was saved. The steamer, while coming through the draw of the rail road bridge at Davenport, struck the pier and was wrecked. At first it was believed all the passengers were saved but it was found when too late, that Mrs. Weaver and the child were drowned. The deceased is truly mourned by many friends in this county, by whom she was known and loved.
