Boob Dies at 92 At Hospital Kidney Condition Fatal to Mifflinburg Veteran. Cataract Removal Had Restored Vision Short Time Before Sight came too late to Jacob C. Boob, 92-year-old Civil War veteran of Mifflinburg, who died in the Williamsport Hospital at noon Saturday of a kidney condition after a cataract operation had restored vision in eye. The aged veteran stood the eye operation well and was apparently recovering when a kidney condition from which he had suffered for several years caused his death. Bandages were removed from his eyes, which had been totally blinded by cataracts, several days ago. He was too sick, the physicians said, to appreciate the sight for which he had longed. For 20 years following his return from the Civil War, Mr. Boob was proprietor of a retail clothing business and later he owned a tobacco shop in Mifflinburg. Mr. Boob, who enlisted in Co. #, 51st Pennsylvania Volunteers, at the age of 18, was wounded in the Battle of Vicksburg. He was a member of Mifflinburg Lodge No. 370, F. and A. M. A daughter, Mrs. Virginia B. Guler, of Mifflinburg, and a brother, W. W. Boob, of Akron, Ohio, survive. Funeral services will be held at 2 30 o'clock Tuesday afternoon in St. John's Reformed Church with burial in the Mifflinburg Cemetery.
