He was a barber by trade, having his own shop in Franklin, Pennsylvania. Later his son Karl took it over. His hobby was working with wood. He made most of his own furniture using many kinds of wood and doing beautiful inlay work. He made the "Electric City" which was a replica of Franklin, Pennsylvania with many moving parts, working oil wells, and running street cars. He toured the Eastern and Southern States with it until it was destroyed in a tornado. He was Deacon of his church and every year the members looked forward to the annual sauerkraut dinner. He made and furnished the kraut. He lived on a hillside where the roof of one house was in line with the basement of the one above it, and you would leave your auto at the bottom of the hill and climb to the house by a series of steps. Charles married Christine Holstein from Butler County, Pennsylvania. She died April 16, 1909 in Franklin, cause unknown. He later married Mary Babcock, born August 3, 1863 in Wittenberg, Germany. When Mary died she was cremated in Cleveland." Additional Comments: The above was written by Florence Gould Mihleder, who was the daughter of Charles' brother, Michael Mihlader (b. 1866), in the 1950s for the family. It was transcribed by Daniel Lee Murray, Jr. Charles' great-great-grandnephew. Charles Mihleder was born March 24, 1852 in Munich, Germany and died August 18, 1924 in Franklin, Pennsylvania.
