This Indenture made the twenty sixth day of March in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and twenty three Between George CRAWFORD of Venango County state of Pennsylvania of the one part and James SCOTT of us aforesaid of the other part, witnesseth that the aforesaid George CRAWFORD for and in consideration of the sum of three hundred dollars of lawful money of the United States to him the said George CRAWFORD in hand well and truly paid, the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged he the said Geo. CRAWFORD, hath Granted Bargained & sold & by these presents doth Grant Bargain & Sell unto the said James SCOTT his heirs and assigns all those messuages of one hundred & fifty acres of land, being and ling (sic) in Venango County bounded as follows by land of said SCOTT on the north, by lands of Levi WILLIAMS on the East, by lands of Thomas STALKER on the south & by lands of John FIELDS on the West, being the same land that William COURTNEY Articled with John FIELDS of the city of Philadelphia bearing date October the twelveth one thousand seven hundred and ninety seven whereunto reference may be hand and will more fully and large appear & also all trees woods underwoods ways watercourses, profits, commodities, advantages, hereditaments and appurtenances, whatsoever to the said messuages & be it also Remembered that this is agreeable to a conveance (sic) made by James MAJOR to William HOVIS bearing date the twenty the twenty fifth (sic) day of April one thousand eight hundred and eighteen whereas reference may be had will at large & more fully appear É. Above mentioned belonging or in any wise appertaining & the reversion & reversions, remainder & remainders, rents, issues, & profits of the said premises & of every part & parsel (sic) thereof, and all the estate right title interest claim & demand whatsoever of him the said George CRAWFORD of in & to the said Messuage É. And premises & every part thereof, To have and to hold the said Messuage É and all and singular other the premises above mentioned & every part & parcel thereof with the appurtenances is unto the said James SCOTT his heirs & assigns for the only proper use & behoof of the said James SCOTT his heirs & assigns forever & the said George CRAWFORD for himself & his heirs the said Messuages and premises & every part thereof against him & his heirs to the said James SCOTT his heirs & assigns shall will warrant & forever defend by these presents in Witness hereof I have hereunto set my hand and affixed my Seal the day & year first above written. CRAWFORD Venango County (seal) On the twenty sixth day of March AD 1823 before me one of the Justices of the peace of the County of Venango came the within named George CRAWFORD and acknowledged the within Indenture as & for his act & deed & desired the same might be recorded as such according to law in testimony whereof I have hereunto set my hand & seal the day and year aforesaid.
