Bessie Bair (1886-1894)

DIED FROM DIPHTHERIA.

Bessie Bair, of Cooperstown, aged 8 years, died at the home 
of her sister, Mrs. William Cann, of Haliday Street, on 
Friday afternoon, of diphtheria, after a brief illness.  
The deceased was attacked by the disease in its most virulent
form less than four days ago and from the first her condition 
was considered hopeless.  As a last resort an injection of 
anti-toxine was tried but which had no effect beyond relieving 
the agony of the afflicted little one.   
The funeral services will be held this forenoon, but owing to 
the contagious nature of the disease will be private.
