We encourage links to the state and county table of contents. ------------------------------------------------------------------- Newspaper clipping, 9/23/1905 - believe to be from the Derrick: Obituary of Mrs. Ellen Hughes reads: "Mrs. Ellen Hughes, widow of the late John Hughes, who was killed in 1896 [sic] in the P.R.R. yards, died at the family home, No. 234 Hone Ave, this morning at 6 o'clock, after an illness of several months. She had been a resident of this city for 24 years, and enjoyed a wide acquaintance. Six sons, Edward, James, Robert, Thomas, William and daughter, Margaret, survive her. The funeral services will be held Monday morning at 9 o'clock in St. Joseph's Church. The internment will be in St. Joseph's cemetery." Follow-up story reads: "This morning at 9 o'clock, t St. Joseph's Church, Rev. P.J. Sheridan, V.G., conducted services in memory of the late Mrs. Ellen Hughes, widow of the well known P.R.R. conductor James [sic] Hughes, who was killed in the Oil City yards several years ago. The services were attended by a large number of friends and relatives. The internment was in St. Joseph's cemetery, six sons of the deceased, Edward, James, John, Robert, William and Thomas acting as pall bearers. Mrs. Hughes was a member of Branch No. 48, L.C.B.A., and the members of that congregation attended the services in a body."
