Murray, 72, of 123 Beagle Club Road, Franklin, died at 5:05 a.m. Sunday, July 4, 2004, in UPMC Northwest, Franklin. Born March 16, 1932, in Brookville, he was the son of James and Burdella Dunlap Murray. Mr. Murray was a retired police officer for the Borough of Sugarcreek. He previously was employed by Amalie, Wolf’Äôs Head and Pennzoil Refineries. He was a member of the Myrtle Lodge No. 316, F. & A.M., Oil City Lodge of Perfection and the New Castle Consistory. He was a 32nd degree mason. Mr. Murray was an outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting and shooting. He was married March 19, 1949, to the former Reva DeLong, who died Feb. 11, 1989. Surviving are a son, Daniel L. Murray and wife, Laurie, of Cochranton; a daughter, Debra L. Minich and husband, James, of Franklin; six grandchildren, Michelle Brant of Latrobe, Christy Thompson of Clymer, N. Y. Daniel L. Murray Jr. of LaCrosse, Kan., Christopher T. Minich of Seneca, James L. Minich Jr. and Lacey J. Minich, both of Franklin; and five great-grandchildren. He also is survived by nine brothers, three sisters and his special companion, Wanda Shoffstall of Franklin. In addition to his parents and wife, Mr. Murray was preceded in death by an infant daughter and a sister, Judy Murray. Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday in the Huff Chapel, 312 W. Parks St., Franklin. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday in the funeral home with Rev. John V. King, pastor of the Lupher Chapel United Methodist Church, officiating. Interment will follow in the Lupher Chapel Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to the American Heart Association, 174 E. Bissell Ave., Oil City, 16301, or to the American Diabetes Association, P.O. Box 1131, Fairfax, Va., 22038-1131.
