May 24,1841 In the name of God Amen I, Alexander Thompson, of Allegheny Township Venango County and State of Pennsylvania do hereby ordain this to be my last will and testament In manner and form following, Namely, First I do hereby leave and bequeath to my beloved wife Elizabeth Thompson all the right title and claim to have and to hold during her natural life this hundred and nine acres upon which I now live being the North Eastcorner of the Tract numbered in the face of Survey on the Deed No. fifty eight. At her death I leave the aforesaid one hundred and nine acres to Thomas Thompson my youngest Son to have and to hold the same his heirs and assigns forever and all the houses Mill Carding Machine with all that severally appertains thereunto. At my Death if my Son Thomas sees proper to take the Grist Mill and to give his Mother one third of the toll or profit thence ensuing he can do so otherwise she may rent It to another. The Carding Machine is her own so long as she lives. It is my desire that Thomas my Son have Two Horses one plough and waggon as restitution for his services since of age. Second, I give Archibald Thompson my oldest Son one hundred acres of land on the South West corner of the aforesaid Tract viz. No. fifty eight and from the aforesaid Deed he shall have a Deed to him his heirs and assigns forever. It is my will that Thomas my Son have the privilege of living on the place during his mother's life and of clearing land and working for himself. But none of the Sons in law shall be brought in to live on or work the place while she lives. Third, I bequeath to John Thompson my second Son one hundred acres of land in Crawford County with the Mill thereon and all pertaining thereto - it being one hundred acres lying on the South West corner of John Kerr's Tract bounded on the North by the land of Archibald Thompson which he now live on - and at my Death he shall get a Deed for the same to have and to hold him his heirs and assigns for-ever. The said John Thompson shall pay his mother one third of the toll of the Mill or an equivelent. He shall also pay each of his sisters one hundred dollars in manner and form following viz. To Esther Goodritch he shall pay fifty Dols in grain or Cattle six months after my Decease. Second, He shall pay to Isabel Hunt, If she be living, fifty Dols. In Grain or Cattle or Clothing in one year after my Decease - but If she be, as report says, dead; then and in that case It is my will that the several payments or her entire portion be retained until drawn legally by her children. Third He shall pay fifty dols. to Margaret Steen in grain Cattle or trade in one year and six months after my Decease. Then he shall have the time of one year before he pays any more - when he shall pay Esther Goodrich fifty Dollars in trade six months after he shall pay fifty dols to Isabel Hunt, or Children as above provided, In trade. Six months after that he shall pay fifty Dols. to Margaret Steen in trade. Fourth Thomas Thompson shall pay each of his Sisters in manner and form as follows fiz. Two years after my death he shall pay fifty Dols, to Esther Goodrich In Grain, Cattle, or other~trade. Six months after that he shall pay to Isabel Hunt fifty Dols. in Grain, Cattle or other trade or to her Children if she be dead. Six months after that he shall pay Margaret Steen fifty Dollars in grain cattle or other trade. One year after the above payments the said Thomas Thompson shall pay to Esther Goodrich fifty dollars in grain Cattle or other trade. One year after that he shall pay Isabel Hunt fifty dols in grain Cattle or other trade or children as above. One year after that he shall pay fifty Dols to Margaret Steen in grain Cattle or other trade. I also bequeath to Marvin Hays and John Henery my Grand Sons, One hundred acres of land commonly called the Green place to be divided equally between them if said land which is now in law be gained. Then and in that case John and Thomas my Sons shall pay the costs of suit, but if the said Green place be lost at law then John my Son shall pay two hundred Dols In trade when Marvin Hays shall come of age to him also he shall receive one hundred Dols out of the avails of certain lands In Butler County belonging to me and mentioned below. If the Green place be lost at law then Thomas my Son shall pay Two Hundred dollars in trade to John Henery. I also wish the said John Henery to have a two year old colt which he now claims. The two hundred Dols just named he shall not receive till he is of age. Likewise I give and bequeath three hundred and forty acres of land in Bear Creek Settlement Parker Township County of Butler and State of Penn. to my children to be divided equally among them after costs of suit be paid and the one hundred to Marvin Hays named above which he shall not receive until of age be provided for. Of my personal Property as follows, Namely, To my beloved wife I leave one bay mare and a saddle, also four of the best Cows and Ten Sheep.The house hold Furniture shall be hers during her natural life. The remainder of my personal property not already disposed of shall be divided into six equal shares and divided equally between my Children. It is my desire that all my business be settled without litigation or trouble and that you all agree, John and Thomas shall each pay Archibald twenty dols to. Finally, Jane Wilson my sister in Law shall have her house and living here as long as she lives. It Is my will and design that David Henderson and John Brown all of this County shall be my Executors to carry this my last will and testament into effect. This 4th day of March A.D. 1845 before me Geo. W. Connely Register from the Probate of wills was granting letters of Administration in and for said County personally came G. W. Hampson David Henderson and Henry M Ghee the subscribing witnesses to the within certain will and being duly sworn according to law did depose and say that they were present and saw and heard Alexander Thompson the testator sign seal publish pronounce and declare the within Instrument of writing is in fact his testament and last will and at the time of so doing he was of perfect and sound mind memory and to the best of their knowledge and belief.
