The Somerset Herald: (Somerset, Pa.) 1870-1936 November 10, 1875
A ten year old boy, named Charles Ginty, living on the line of the Oil Creek
railroad, near Warren, Pa., preformed an act of the utmost heroism, on Wednesday, in
rescuing his baby sister from a burning house and attempting the rescue of another
sister, aged three years, who in her fright had fastened herself in a closet and was
burned with the house. The injuries to the brave boy were fatal. The mother, who had
left her children, has become crazy with grief. The fire originated from kerosene.
