Background: There is a center monument with names and dates that was erected by Mary Wickerham Chess Miller. A high wall surrounds the area. Inside the wall are sunken holes and overturned grave markers. The Chess Family had a large farm which is now the third ward of Monongahela. Their home was located where the city park now is located. Chess St. in Monongahela was named for this family. The tombstone readings were taken by Mr. and Mrs Walter Hoffman in July 1961.
