Cemetery is located on land formerly belonging to the Bumgarner (Bumgardner) family, and is presently maintained by the Millfred Cemetery Association, which also maintains the Fredericktown Cemetery. The cemetery is on a hill behind the church. In the early days of Millsborough the believers in the different Methodist faiths joined in the erection of a public house of worship. The house, a log building, was built in 1830 and 1831, upon ground donated by Jesse Bumgarner for that purpose, and the Methodist Episcopal people were to have the preference of occupancy, the Methodist Protestant Society to come next in the order of privilege. The Methodist Protestant Society was regularly organized in 1834 by Rev. Thomas Flower. A great many persons joined this church from time to time, until a large congregation was in regular attendance and the society was in a flourishing condition. After a few years the members to a great extent emigrated to the West and other parts, and the membership gradually diminished until finally the society was disbanded, the four remaining members going to the Mount Zion, the Old Side Methodists, and the Cumberland Presbyterian Churches. This data was collected by the DAR and found in the genealogy section of the Citizens Library in Washington PA . The data is from the mid-1930s so the burial records may not be complete.
