Finley Dr. The Cemetery is on a hill behind the house of an active farm. Preaching was first held in the house of Luke Enlow and afterwards at the house of Elliott Enlow. The first Church building was built on one of the Enlow farms in 1830. The name “Stoney Point” first appears in the Quarterly Conference Minutes as the name of the Church in 1855. Prior to that time it was referred to as Enlow’s or Enlow’s Meeting House. The first members were Sabina, Henry, Ellen, Elliott, Martha, Luke, and Susannah Enlow, Warren and Elizabeth Thornberry, Larry and Elizabeth Coffield, James, Margaret, Elizabeth, and Joseph Pedan, and Jemima Patterson. This church is often called the Enlow Church. Local tradition which goes back to Nicholas Pees, states that there have been three buildings used by this congregation. The first building, built in 1830, built of logs, with flattened logs for seats. Boyd Crumline, in his History of Washington County, states that there was an older building that was made part of the frame of the new building. This must have been the second building. The frame of a fireplace, which apparently heated the second building was under the platform of the sanctuary of the third building. The new building dated from the 1870’s. Always on a Circuit, in 1968 Stoney Point was part of a two point Charge with Claysville. The membership in 1968 was 55. In 1972 Stoney Point merged with Fairmount. This date was collected on 11 August 1939 by Mrs. Taylor, Mrs. Patterson, Sasrah Lestnett, Mrs. Nantker and Elizabeth B. Weaver members of the Canonsburg DAR. =================================================================================================== LAST NAME FIRST NAME BORN DIED AGE NOTES =================================================================================================== Ashbrook John 13 Jan 1866 38yr Brownlee John L. 15 Aug 1879 36yr Civil War 16th PA Cavalry.
