They were the parents of Margaret Ann Gilmore of Merrittstown Pa who was fine looking, smart & brilliant but died young & unmarried of typhoid fever. Miss Porter don't remember her but has often heard her folks speak of her & thinks she was the only child. Miss Porter has often heard her mother speak of the Sproats, McWilliams & Leckey relatives. She said: "O yes, I have heard of the Laughlins, I used to visit them in Guernsey Co, Ohio & think some of them live there yet, but have lost all trace of them". (Wm D. Wilson of Libertyville, Iowa s'd Deborah, dau of Alex & Deborah Wilson married a Laughlin). She s'd all she knew of them lived on farms. Has heard her mother speak of Alexander Laughlin. Miss Porter said her grandfather Thomas Wilson did not go blind until about 6 yrs before his death. She said his widow, her grandmother, after his death was riding horseback from their home to Cephas Porter's & the girth broke & she was thrown off & broke her hip & never got out after that, was in fact bedfast & she, Miss Porter, nursed her. She says Judge Charles Porter was a brother of her grandfather John Porter. Charles was the father of Mr Wm Dunaway & Miss Hannah Porter (who lived with Dunaways) & also of a son Jennings Porter.
