All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgwarchives.net/pa/pafiles.htm ************************************************ File contributed for use in USGenWeb Archives by: Muriel Sonne cgsonne@comcast.net May 10, 2011, 6:11 pm Washington County, Vol. 9, p. 240; East Pike Run Written: December 30, 1791 Recorded: December 30, 1791 Deed Book Vol. 9, I1, p. 240-241 Joseph Brown to Thomas Bailey: This Indenture made the thirtieth day of December in the year of our lord one thousand seven hundred and ninety one between Joseph Brown of Washington County and state of Pennsylvania of the one part, and Thomas Bailey of the County and State aforesaid of the other part, Witnesseth whereas the said Joseph Brown did on the twenty fourth day of march seventeen hundred and eighty eight obtain from the land office of the said State of Pennsylvania a warrant for one hundred and sixty acres of land in consequence of which on the eighteenth day of January Seventeen hundred and ninety three was surveyed unto him the said Joseph Brown two hundred and fifty six and one quarter acres of land with the usual allowance of six percent &etc and returned into the secretarys office the twenty seventh day of February in same year and upon warrant and return thereof made as aforesaid, patent or confirmation was granted unto him the said Joseph Brown bearing date the first day of march in the same year and on same day was Inrolled in the rolls office for said state of Pennsylvania in patent book no 15 page 255, situate laying and being on the waters of pike run in Washington County aforesaid called and known by the name "Alybas" and to which patent and warrant thereof reference may be had. Now this indenture witnesseth that the said Joseph Brown, for and in consideration of the sum of five pounds current money to him in hand well and truly payed by the said Thomas Bailey at or before the sealing and delivery of these presents the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged, and he the said Joseph Brown therewith fully entirely satisfied and contented, hath Bargained made over, conveyed, enfeoffed, aliened sold and confirmed and by these presents doth bargain make over convey, enfeoff, alien sell and confirm unto the said Thomas Bailey and to his heirs and assigns forever, the part of the above described tract or parcel of land as is contained in the following courses and distances Viz: Beginning at a Spanish oak. [by land of ? Jackman, Joseph Brown, Thomas Bailey, Amos Ailes] to the place of beginning containing twenty and three quarters acres of land with the usual allowance of six percent for roads &etc Together with all and Singular the buildings and improvements thereon erected ways waters water courses woods under woods meadows orchards, hereditaments and appurtenances whatsoever [the usual wording and guarantees follow]. In Witness whereof the said Joseph Brown hath hereunto set his hand & seal the say and year first above written. Received the day of the date of these presents of Thomas Bailey party to the within instrument of writing the sum of five pounds being the consideration money within mentioned in full I say received by me Joseph Brown.
