He was appointed Colonel of the Engineers, sailed for France 24 April 1918, was recommended for a Distinguished Service Medal. BLACK, John Roy-----Son of John H. and Belle Day BLACK 104 W. Wheeling St, Born 09 Feb of 1892. Enlisted 31 July 1917. He was sent to Kelly Field, then Washington DC, later to Camp Greene and Hempstead. Was commisssioned 1st Lieutenant and was honorably discharged 11 Dec 1918. BLOND, Phillip-----113 S. Franklin St. Born 18 Dec 1875. Enlisted 06 Aug 1917. He was attached to C.Q.M. Was Commissioned Captain and sailed for France 18 Sep 1917. Returned to the United States 25 Apr 1919, and was honorably discharged from service three days later. BRADEN, Alfred G.-----Son of Mr. and Mrs. A.C. BRADEN, 271 Locust Ave. Born 19 Feb 1888. Enlisted with Company H, 110th Infantry, 28th Division in 1916. Was stationed at Camp Barnett and later moved to Camp Hancock. Appointed 1st Lieutenant and salied to France May 1918. Lieutenant BRADEN was in the Argonne Forrest, Marne, and all the other large battles with Co. H BRADEN, James M.-----Son of W.H. BRADEN, 440 W. Maiden St. Born 29 Jan 1894. Enlisted with the 3rd Battery, 52nd Heavy Artillery, at Fort Monroe. Braden was commissioned 2nd Lieutenant, later 1st Lieutenant. Salied for France 27 Sept of 1917, engaged in many battles. Lieutenant Braden was gassed several times; cited for bravery. Returned from overseas 18 Nov 1918; honorably discharged as Captain, 12 Dec 1918. BRIDGES, Fredrick-----Son of W.R. and Dixie W BRIDGES. Born 08 Dec 1892. Enlisted 15 July 1917, with Company H, 110 Infantry, 28th Division. He was sent to Camp Hancock, was made Corporal, Sergeant asnd 1st Lieutenant. Sailed for France 03 May 1918. Was wounded and gassed. CRAFT, David W.-----42 E. Wheeling St. Born 09 Nov 1883. Enlisted 07 Feb 1918. Was sent to Camp Hancock and was attached to Headquarters Company of the 28th Division. He sailed for France 03 May 1918. Was made Sergeant, 2nd Lieutenant, 1st Lieutenant. Retruned to the US 28 Apr 1919, and was honorably discharged from service 07 May 1919. DEVER, John E.-----Son of Mr. and Mrs. J.H. DEVER, 234 E. Maiden St. Born 07 Jan 1895. Enlisted 20th Apr 1917, with the Machine Gun Company of the 110 Regiment, 28th Division. He sailed overseas 01 May 1918. Was commissined 1st Lieutenant. Returned to the US 01 May 1919 and was honorably discharged from the service on the 10th of that month. DINSMORE, William B. 706 N. Main St. Born 29 Aug of 1980. Enlisted with Company H, 110th Infantry, first in 1902. He was with them at different times until he was appointed 1st Lieutenant 31 Mar 1918. Lieutenant Dinsmore went with Company H to Broder, to Camp Hancock, later to France Transferred to 6th Marines, then 26th Division, then wounded, returned to US 28 Dec 1918; honorably discharged from US Army Hospital No. 14, Parkview, 17 May 1919. DONNAN, Edmund Arthur-----Son of Mrs. Allan DONNAN, Redstone Lane. Enlisted 12 May 1917, in the Air Service and was sent to Massachusetts Tech, but got most of his flying training in Italy. Was commissioned 1st Lieutenant and sailed overseas 25 Sept 1917. On detached service with Royal Italian Aviation; given an Italian War Cross. Returned to US 29 Dec 1918; honorably discharged 09 Jan 1919. FLORIAN, Francis L.-----Son of Mr. and Mrs. Fred FLORIAN, 22 Duncan Ave. Born 02 Feb 1896. Enlisted 11 Mar 1918, and was sent to Camp Vail and assigned to the Radio Signal Corps. He was transferred to Collge Park, commissioned 2nd Lieutenant, and was honorably discharged from service in Dec 1918. FULTON, Robert Henry-----Son of Rev R.H. and Annie FULTON, 20 Sherman Ave. Born 27 Aug 1888. Enlisted in Sep 1917, in the R.O.T.C. at Plattsburg and was commissioned 1st Lieutenant. He was attached to the Ordnance Dept. Promoted to Captain, and was honorably discharged in Feb 1918. GOOD, Gilbert-----Son of Robert GOOD. Ayleworth Ave. Born in 1893. Enlisted 30 Sep 1915. He was in training at Camp Hull, Fort Leavenworth, Chickamauga Park, and Camp Wadsworth. Was given the rank of Captain and sent overseas 08 July 1918. HAWKINS, Frank B.----- Son of Colonel and Mrs. Alexander Leroy. HAWKINS, 49 S. Wade Ave. Born 14 July 1873. Enlisted in April 1898. He was in the Regular Army, stationed at Camp Funston, attached to the 353rd Infantry, 89th Division. Sailed for France in June, 1918. August 1918, was Appointed Colonel. Was wounded by explosive shell. HAWKINS, Clyde E.-----Son of Colonel and Mrs.Alexander Leroy HAWKINS, 49 S. Wade Ave. Graduated from West Point in 1895, was sent to Camp Dodge, and was placed with the 352nd Infantry, 88th Division. He was commissioned Colonel, sailed overseas 15 August 1918. HAWKINS, James C. -----Son of Mr. and Mrs. William HAWKINS, 543 E, Chestnut St. Born 26 Oct 1889. Enlisted in the Medical Corps, 02 Feb 1918. Was promoted to Captain. Returned to the US 31 Mar 1919, and was honorably discharged from service 13 April 1919. MONIGER, James C.-----Son of Mrs. S.V. MONIGER, 660 E. Maiden St. Born 30 Dec 1891. Enlisted in Jan 1918, in Aviation. He was sent to Dorr Field. Was Commissioned 2nd Lieutenant, then 1st Lieutenant, was promoted to Captain, and was honorably discharged from service 04 Apr 1919. MORROW, David C.-----75 S. Wade Ave, was prior to his enlistment in the army a civil engineer. He was commissioned Captain, and was attached to the Utilities Division, Quartermaster Dept, stationed at Camp Pike. SMITH, J. Lambert-----Son of Mrs. Edith Smith, 110 Hall Ave. Born 26 Aug 1892. Enlisted 11 May 1917, in the R.O.T.C. and was sent to Fort Niagara. He was commissioned 1st Lieutenant, went overseas 07 Jul 1918 and received a Captain's commission 16 Oct 1918. Captain Smith returned to US 30 May 1919 was honorably discharged 08 Jun 1919. THOMAS, Fred-----166 Highland Ave. Born 02 Aug 1889. Enlisted 15 Oct 1908, with Company F, 51st Infantry, 6th Division, and was sent to Chatanooga. He was made Captain in Feb 1918. Sailed overseas 06 Jul 1918, and was cited for bravery in the Argonne Forest. GRAY, Alexander B.-----363 E. Maiden St. Enlisted 06 Sept 1917 in Air Service. Sent to Kelly Field. Attached to Aero Squadrons No. 120, 136, 140,142; Commissioned 1st Lieut. Sent to Garden City and sailed overseas 16 Feb 1918. Was Commanding Officer at No 1 School of Navigation and Bomb Dropping, Stonehenge England. Returned to US 10 Dec 1918; honorably discharged 27th Dec 1918. HOGUE, Rev. Walter Jenkins-----20 S. Lincoln St. Born 16 November 1879. Enlisted 10th July 1918, as Chaplin of Ammunition Train, 8th Division. He was stationed at Camp Funston, Camp Fremont, Camp Mills and Camp Lee. 1st Lieutenant Hogue was honorably discharged from service 24 Dec 1918. HOLLEN, Harry E.-----Son of Jacob Hollen, 45 S. St. Born 14 May 1894. Enlisted 20 Nov. 1915, and sent to Fort Bliss, Tex. Was attached to Company K, 20th Southwestern Infantry, 3rd Regulars, transferred to Camp Pike, then to Camp Lee. Commissioned 2nd Lieut. promoted to 1st Lieut., and honorably discharged form service 05 Dec 1918. Lieut. Hollen re-enlisted 06 May 1919 for general duty. IAMES, George D.-----Son of Mr and Mrs W. O. Iames, 405 Dewy Ave. Born 22 February 1882. Was commissioned 1st Lieutenant in the Engineer Corps 08 August 1918. He was assigned to Camp Humphreys, and was honorably discharged from the service of the US 15 Oct 1918. LEONARD, F. Donald-----Son of Mr. and Mrs. J W Leonard, 339 E. Beau St. Born 06 June 1895. Enlisted 15 May 1917 in ROTC at Fort Benjamin Harrison. WAs commissioned 2nd Lieut. attached to Headquarters Co, s107th FA, 28th Division. Sent to Camps Taylor, Shelby and Hancock. Sailed for France 30 Apr 1918. Promoted to 1st Lieut.. Returned to US 12 May 1919; honorably discharged 20 May 1919. LINCOLN, Ralph N.-----Son of Mr and Mrs HG Lincoln, 1021 Jefferson Ave. Boen 04 May 1892. Was inducted into service 05 Sept 1917 and was sent to Camp Sherman. Was transferred to Camp Lee and then Hancock. He was commissioned 1st Lieut., was an instructor at Camp Hancock, and was honorably discharged from service 20 Dec 1918. MARKLEY, Rev. Herbert G.-----Son of Mary E. Markley, 103 Church St. Born 23 June 1887. Enlisted 29th June 1917, and was appointed Chaplain of the 116th Engineers with the rank of 1st Lieut. He sailed for France Nov 1917. Returned to the US in October 1918, and was honorably discharged from service 02 Jan 1919. NEWCOMER, LLoyd H. -----Son of Thomas Newcomer, 826 Allison Ave. Born 04 Jan 1889. Enlisted in Sept 1917 and was sent to Fort Benjamon Harrison. Was attached to the 354th Inf., 89th Div., and commissioned 1st Lieut. Newcomer sailed for France 03 June 1918. Returned to the US in Feb 1919 and honorably discharged from service in March 1919. SCHIMMACK, August F.-----Son of Paul Karl Schimmack, corner of Hall and Duncan Aves., Born 07 Sep of 1891, Enlisted 07 May 1917 in the ROTC and was sent to Fort Niagara. He was commissioned 1st Lieut., sent to Camp Meade, and was honorably discharged from service in Nov 1918. SMITH, Stanley Watson-----Son of Rev and Mrs R L Smith, 25 Mc Kennen Ave., Born 21 Jan 1892. Enlisted 28 Aug 1917 in ROTC and sent to Fort Oglethorpe. Commissioned 2nd Lieut., sailed for France 28 Apr 1918; 13 Nov 1918 given rank of 1st Lieut. After armistice placed in General Pershing's Headquarters. SMITH, Roy L.-----Son of Mr and Mrs JB Smith. Born 10 November 1888. Enlisted 09 May 1917, with Company E, 5th Engineers and was assigned to Camp Gaillard. Sailed overseas, 09 July 1917. Made Corp., Sergt., and 2nd Lieut., and in Mar 1919 given rank of 1st Lieut. Returned to US Apr 1919; honorably discharged 10 May 1919. SUTTON, Roy R., 1215 E. Maiden St. Born 11th July 1882. Enlisted 25 August 1917 in the ROTC at Fort Oglethorpe. He was commissioned 1st Lieut, attached to Company F. 307th Engineers, 82nd Division, and sailed for France 04 March 1918. Returned to the U S 09 May 1919; honorably discharged 06 June 1919.
