Died on Sabbath evening, September 13th, 1863, at his home in Claysville, Pa.,
Francis Augustus Birch, aged 23 years, 4 months and 18 days. An examination of the
records of Washington College from the time of his matriculation in 1857 until his
graduation in 1861, the testimony of those who instructed or received instruction
from him, the voice of his loving classmates, will show that the entrance of his
intellect into any field of study, was only to become its master...
