James M. Caldwell, 84, of Hickory, died suddenly Thursday, November 17, 1960. 
He was born in Hickory December 29, 1875, a son of William and Jane Moore
Caldwell.  He had spent his entire life in Hickory and was caretaker of the Mt.
Prospect Cemetery.  Mr. Caldwell was a member of the Mt. Prospect Presbyterian
Church, the Knights of Pythias Lodge, Hickory Section.  His wife Bessie J.
Miller, whom he married in 1911, died in 1946.  He is survived by a son, James
A. Caldwell, of Hickory; two daughters, Helen J. at home and Mildred K., wife of
Dean M. Nichols, of Washington; two sisters, Mrs. Alice Marquis, and Laura, wife
of John Y. Dinsmore, both of Hickory; and three grand-children.  He was preceded
in death by a daughter, Louise, who died in 946.
