Charleroi, PA April 24- WILLIAM GEHO a Civil War veteran and a pioneer resident of Charleroi, aged 89 years, died today at the home of his son, HARRY GEHO, 520 Washington avenue at 2:30 o'clock. Mr. GEHO was born at Woods Run, September 4, 1832 [Note: son of JOHN & ELANOR GEHO], and was a resident of that community the greater part of his life. In 1856 he married ELIZA KENNEDY and moved to Charleroi in 1894, having been a resident of this borough for 28 years. He enlisted in Company I 5th West Virginia Infantry, April 27, 1861, and served for three years and three months. He took part in the battles of Bull Run and Gettysburg. While in the service, he received a medal for marksmanship, being one of the best marksmen in his company. He was discharged from the service April 28, 1864. Mr. GEHO was the second oldest man in Charleroi, being surpassed only in years by GILBERT UPTGRAFT, another Civil War veteran, who is aged 92 years. Three daughters survive: Mrs. (PEARL J.) J. W. MATHIAS, Miss JENNIE GEHO, Miss SARA GEHO, all of Charleroi; two sons HARRY WILSON GEHO, of Charleroi, and RICHARD(? Should perhaps read ROBERT) GEHO; [other children not noted, and probably pre-deceased: EDMOND, EVA, AMBROSE]; 16 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren. Mr. GEHO was a member of the First Christian Church of Charleroi. Funeral services will be held Wednesday afternoon at 2 o'clock in charge of Rev. F. G. LAKE, with interment in the Monongahela Cemetery. The Washington Observer, Washington, PA 22 Nov 1924: Obituary of JOHN C. GEHO Low Hill, Nov. 21 - The funeral of the late John C. Geho, who was killed by being struck by an automobile driven by some unknown person about 6:30 o'clock last Sunday (16 Nov) evening, was held Wednesday at his late home near Low Hill. Mr. Geho was found lying by the road near the Robert Elwood farm, by Dr. Huston, of Brownsville. It was reported that he was dead when found about one hour after being struck by the automo-bile. The body was removed to Kisinger's morgue and later to the J. V. McDonough's mortuary at Beallsville. Mr. Geho was a son of the late George and Mary Geho, of near Centerville and was born and reared in the place where his son now lives. His wife, Mary E. Geho died 12 years ago. He is survived by one son, William C. Geho. He is also survived by one brother, Ezra S. Geho, who made his home with the deceased, one daughter-in-law, Mrs. W. C. Geho and two grandchildren, Mary Florence and Bertha Mae Geho. Mr. Geho had been employed by the Pittsburg Mercantile company as night watchman and offices at the works at Vesta No. 5, near Denbo for the last two and one-half years. He was born December 26, 1849, being in his 75th year, and had lived at the old home place all his life. Interment was in the Westland Cemetery, near Centerville (Washington county). The Washington Observer, Washington, PA 17 Jun 1925: Obituary of Mrs. MARY JANE (BREWER) GEHO Mrs. Mary Jane Geho Dies At California - Laryngitis Fatal To Widely Known Resident Of River Town After Week's Illness - Was Aged 84 Years - California, June 16 - Mrs. Mary Jane Geho, aged 64, widow of Samuel Mansfield Geho, died at her home here this evening at 6 o'clock, following one week's illness of laryngitis. A daughter of Richard and Harriet Brewer, she was born March 23, 1841, near Canonsburg but had spent a large part of her life here and was widely known and highly respected. She was the oldest of 12 brothers and sisters. She was the oldest active member of the First Christian church here. Mrs. Geho leaves the following brothers and sisters: Samuel Brewer, of Ohio; George Brewer, of Elco; Mrs. Clade Reed, of Washington; Mrs. Melissa Burgess, of Wilkinsburg; Mrs. Belle Conway, of Monassen; Mrs. Minnie Reed, of McKeesport; Mrs. Dora Thompson, of Boston. Two sons and a daughter, Alva J. Geho, Harvey Geho and Mrs. Kirk Richardson, all of this place, also survive. Mrs. Geho also leaves seven grandchildren and three great grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at the Christian church here Friday afternoon at 2 o'clock, conducted by Rev. Thomas Wood. Interment will be in the Phillips Cemetery. The Washing-ton Observer, Washington, PA 3 Feb 1926: Obituary of EZRA GEHO Civil War Veteran Is Dead At Centerville - Ezra Geho, Aged 82 Years Answers Final Rollcall - Saw Service With Two Cavalry Companies in Rebellion - Centerville, Feb. 2 - Ezra Geho, aged 82 years, a Civil war veteran died this morning at his home in Centerville borough, near Westland. He was born July 22, 1844 in Fayette county and lived practically all his life in the Centerville district. Mr. Geho served as a private in Comp-any E of the 6th Regiment, Pennsylvania Cavalry and a private in the 2nd Regiment, Pennsylvania Provisional Cavalry. He was the last charter member of the Cedar lodge of the I.O.O.F. He is survived by his nephew, William H. Hagerty, of Monongahela. His only brother, John Geho, died last year. The I.O.O.F. will hold services at his late home at 7:30 Wednesday night. The regular funeral services will be held at his late home at 2 o'clock Thursday. Interment will be in the Westland Cemetery,(near Centerville, Washington County.)
