(Pittsburgh, Pa.) 1860-1898: April 22, 1863 Died April 3d, at his late residence in Robinson Township, Washington County, Col. James McDonald. The deceased, notwithstanding he had exceeded four-score years, had, until very recently the erect form and firm, elastic step of manhood, his natural strength but little abated, and the vivacity and animation of youth almost unchanged. But a violent attack of gangrene of the limbs soon brought weakness and death to this once vigorous body. Col. McDonald lived all his life upon a part of the large tract of land first purchased and occupied by his father, who was one of the earliest settlers of this county, a man of great wealth, as well as moral worth… A devoted Christian wife, and four children, now mourn the loss of a husband and father upon whom they were accustomed so long to rely for counsel, sympathy and needful help.
