Died on the 4th of March last, in the hospital near Vicksburg, of camp diarrhea,
contracted at the battle of Arkansas Post, Hervey S. M. McFarland, formerly of Cross
Creek Village, Pa… As Regimental Druggist of the 77th Regiment of Illinois
Volunteers, he laid down his life in the country’s behalf…
