All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgwarchives.net/pa/pafiles.htm ************************************************ Contributed by Marilyn Tolentino WILBER WATSON Wilbur Watson, prominent oil magnate and superintendent of the Chartiers Oil company died suddenly at his Uniontown home in East National Pike at 3 o'clock Wednesday afternoon, March 27, 1935. He appeared to be in the usual health and earlier in the day worked around the yard, being stricken with cerebral hemorrhage, shortly after lunch. Deceased was born April 18, 1872, at Titusville, the son of Samuel and Mary Shute Watson, pioneers in the oil business in the upper off country, The Watson family came to Washington, Pa. with the beginning of the oil development. Mr. Watson married Kate Anderson of Claysville, March 22, 1892, and last Friday they quietly celebrated their 43rd wedding anniversary. There were no children, Mr. Watson was superintendent and production manager in oil fields the greater part of his life. He took an active part in oil development in various states and was superintendent of the Chartiers Oil company for 21 years. For the past 11 years, he has been a resident of Uniontown. Three weeks ago yesterday he and his wife went to Washington, Pa., to care for Mr. and Mrs. Samuel B. Anderson, brother and sister-in- law of Mrs. Watson, both of who are ill at their home, 450 Allison Avenue, Washington. Surviving are the widow, Kate Anderson Watson, one sister Mrs. Guy Patterson of Washington and one brother, Ralph Watson of Uniontown. He was a member of Asbury M.E. church this city; of the blue Lodge 464, Easton, Texas; the Consistory at Dallas, Texas, and Hella Temple at Dallas. Funeral services will be held Friday at 2 o'clock in the W.B. Richey Funeral home, 106 South Main Street, Washington, Pa. Burial will be in the Washington Cemetery.
