All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgwarchives.net/pa/washington/ _______________________________________________ WILL OF ELIJAH CRAFFORD Dated 29 March 1829 Probated: 12 Feb 1836 Smith Twp, Washington Co, PA Will Book 5 Page 242   The Last Will & Testament of Elijah Crafford yeoman of Washington County Pennsylvania, witnesseth That I dispose of my estate real and personal in the following manner viz  Item 1  I give and bequeath to my wife Elizabeth one case of drawers one bed and bedding one horse and one cow her choice of my stock her saddle and bridle one spinning wheel and as much of my kitchen furniture as she may choose all in perpetuity together with a comfortable maintenance from my two sons Joseph and Isaac as hereinafter directed and full possession of the best room in my home on the place where I live during her natural life. 2n I give and bequeath to my son Joseph Crafford that tract of land I purchased from Andrew Carlisle by indenture bearing the date the 14th day of May 1805 upon condition that my said son Joseph pay me [my] executors three hundred dollars in four equal annual payments commencing one year after my decease and likewise pay my wife Elizabeth one third of the yearly value of said farm during her natural life if she requires it. 3rd In as much as I have given my son Free Crafford six hundred and fifty dollars in payment of that tract of land he bought of Thomas Holmes I give and bequeath to my said Son Free the above mentioned money with the interest together with one hundred dollars to be paid in two equal annual payments commencing one year after my decease 4th I give and bequeath to my Son Isaac Crafford that tract of land I purchased  from Wm Reid by Indenture dated the 25th day of May 1801 upon condition that my said son Isaac pay my executors three hundred dollars in four equal annual payments commencing one year after my decease and likewise pay my wife Elizabeth one third of the yearly value of said farm during her natural life if she requires it [and further] I give to my said son Isaac my cupboard after the death of his mother but she is to have the use of it while she lives. 5th I give and bequeath to the children of my daughter Elizabeth Jackson one hundred and fifty dollars to be divided among said children share and share alike. 6th I give and bequeath to my daughter Rebecca Thompson one hundred and fifty dollars to be paid in three equal annual installments commencing one year after my decease      I give and bequeath to my daughter Ann Boils fifty dollars to be paid one year after my decease 8th I give and bequeath to my grandson Crafford Miller fifty dollars to be paid two years after my decease and also one share of my turnpike stock. 9th I give and bequeath to my granddaughter Rachel Miller fifty dollars to be paid two years after my decease, but if either of [the] grandchildren should die in their minority and without issue then their brothers and sisters shall inherit their share 10th I give and bequeath to Elijah Crafford son of Isaac Crafford my rifle gun and one share of my turnpike stock 11th I give and bequeath to Isaac Crafford son of Isaac Crafford my silver watch. 12th I give and bequeath the remaining six shares of my turnpike stock to the following persons viz one share to Elijah Crafford son of Joseph Crafford, one share to my grandson Elijah Jackson one share to my grandson Elijah Crafford son of Free Crafford one share to my grandson Elijah Thompson one share to my granddaughter Elizabeth Crafford daughter of Isaac Crafford and one share to Robert Crafford son of Isaac Crafford 13th I give and bequeath to my three sons Joseph Free and Isaac my wearing apparel to be divided by them share and share alike. 14th all my property not heretofore disposed to be sold at the discretion of my executors and after the payment of the above legacies my just debts and funeral expenses the remainder I bequeath to my two daughters Rebecca and Anne and the heirs of my daughter Elizabeth each of my said daughters to have one third and the heirs of my daughter Elizabeth to have the other third of said remainder Lastly I do hereby appoint my two sons Joseph & Isaac Crafford Executors of this my last will and testament. D. 1836 before me Samuel Cunningham, register for the probate of Wills and granting letters of Administration in and for said County came James McFarren and William Livingston two fo the subscribing witnesses to the above and within last will and testament of Elijah Crafford deceased who being duly sworn as the law directs doth depose and say that they were personally present and did see the testator within named sign this will, and did hear him publish pronounce and declare the same as and for his last will and testament that at the time of his so doing he was of sound and disposing mind memory and understanding to the best of their knowledge observation and belief and that they signed this will as witnesses at the request of the testator and in his presence and in the presence of each other and in the pres! ence of M.
